Aster Brunsting Frazer, BA

Clinical Recovery Coach

“I prioritize treating folks with empathy and respect during mental health treatment, and I’m happy to work at a facility that shares these values. Through my work, I find joy in helping residents cope with distress, find meaning in their lives, and feel heard and understood. I particularly enjoy coaching sessions, where I connect with residents and help them achieve goals.”

Aster started as a Residential Advisor at CooperRiis at Asheville and was soon promoted to Clinical Recovery Coach. Before joining CooperRiis, he was a Community Mentor at Elevate Wellness and Recovery and a Mental Health Technician at Lakeside Behavioral Health Center.

Aster attended Warren Wilson College and graduated with an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He based his thesis research on the meaning of Spiritual Experiences.

“I like working on creative projects like painting, knitting, or playing video games in my free time. I also find time to ‘nerd out’ about mental health through attending workshops around Decarceration in Mental Health care, Harm Reduction, and Lived Experiences.”
