Markus has worked for CooperRiis since 2003 in various positions and currently serves as the Community Work and Service Garden Crew Leader, as well as the Interim Director.
I am working at CooperRiis to give back to humanity, to express who I am, and to change the world a little bit, one step at a time. With my team, we support the mission of CooperRiis by managing the day-to-day operations of the Farm Campus and Greehouses for our residents and staff. Together, we strive to create a difference in the lives of those we support.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in horticulture from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Markus managed a family-owned horticultural business and greenhouses in Switzerland. In 1994, he moved with his family to the United States to work as General Manager for Oglevee Ltd. Greenhouses in McDonough, GA. He also set up a greenhouse production site in Kenya for the European Market (1994 and 1996). He is a Registered Horticultural Therapist from the Horticultural Therapy Institute, Denver, CO, and Colorado State University.
Greenhouses are never far from his heart, and in his personal greenhouse, he grows organic vegetables. He is also a bread maker, a skill his family and members of his personal community greatly enjoy.
Markus is married to Ines Wullimann, a Farm Community Campus Crew Leader; together they have four children and seven grandchildren.
