Happy Thanksgiving! We at CooperRiis find joy in focusing on not only what we are grateful for, but the fact that others are in turn grateful for us. Here we proudly share a story of recovery from one of our beloved alumni:

“When I reflect on how CooperRiis changed my life, there are no other words to describe how my team felt about me besides ‘love’. They simply loved me with all their hearts. CooperRiis’ community saw me as a human being, they cared about me, and they truly believed in me. They found the key to unlock my inner being and empowered me to change and grow and accomplish.

Also, the work crews were great at skill-building. They taught me much about life and myself. I now work full-time, holding down two different jobs; I fill an important role, and my productivity helps my company grow.

I am surrounded by loving family and friends, and it’s all thanks to the devotion, love, and respect of every worker at CooperRiis.”

-CooperRiis Alumnus
Mordechai Y.
Brooklyn, NY

Mordechai achieved much in his time here at CooperRiis. He gained his GED and the community held a graduation ceremony for him with his family in attendance. He obtained a driver’s permit and then his NY driver’s license upon his return home. He takes Talmudic and computer classes currently. He also credits his time with us to turning his life-style around; he eats healthfully and exercises regularly. He also credits many staff members for helping him to become a happy, productive member of society. Mordechai shares that “CooperRiis will always have a special place in his heart.” And we hope he knows that we will always hold a special place in our hearts for him.

We have so much gratitude to Mordechai’s family for trusting him in our care, to Mordechai for putting in the hard work, to our staff for providing stellar and compassionate care, and to his teachers at Isothermal Community College who guided him through to his GED.

Will you consider a donation?

Please consider a donation to CooperRiis today, or for Giving Tuesday next week on December 1st. It is through our donor’s generosity that we can offer scholarships towards rate reductions so those in need can still benefit from our Healing Community and our care.

With four levels of care in our Full Continuum, residents can enter our program by way of two residential options, CooperRiis at Asheville, or The Farm at CooperRiis
