Kat Morua, LCSW, CCTP, C-DBT

Integrative Therapist and Recovery Coordinator

Kat’s approach to her work as an Integrative Therapist and Recovery Coordinator is individualized, compassionate, strengths-based, and empowerment-focused. She has worked at the CooperRiis Community Program since January of 2020.

Kat is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and a Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist (C-DBT).

She obtained her Master’s degree in 2018 at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she worked as an advocate and therapist for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. These experiences sparked her interest in the impact of trauma on a person’s life and her desire to deepen her clinical competency in this area.

Kat spends her spare time on the Blue Ridge Parkway’s hiking trails with her dog, rock climbing at the Smoky Mountain Adventure Center, and doodling/painting/making crafts with friends!

She trained for 250-hours to become a Yoga Teacher at Asheville Community Yoga, which provided her with a more nuanced and comprehensive understanding of the mind-body interface and the importance of ‘Svadhyaya’: the yogic term for self-study and tuning in to one’s inner voice.
