“I have modeled my life around my country, family, and community. As a therapist, I gained the skills to help foster safe and quality therapeutic relationships with persons with mental and physical health challenges; it is my life’s calling at CooperRiis and with fellow veterans.”
Adam joined the United States Marine Corps in 2005 as an infantry squad leader and was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, in Habanyeah, Iraq. He was wounded in combat in 2006 and awarded the Purple Heart and a certificate of accommodation for combat valor.
His injuries made for a hard transition to civilian life, and he struggled with mental and physical health challenges. With the support of family, friends, and mentors, he worked through many challenges and obtained personal and professional goals that he thought were previously unobtainable.
Adam completed his Bachelor of Arts in Business at Southern New Hampshire University and his Master’s Degree in Social Work at Campbellsville University in Kentucky.
Adams’ most recent work was as a Clinical Social Worker at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Asheville, North Carolina.
“My wife and I have five amazing children; my family is my life’s greatest achievement.” Adam is also a student of history and loves hunting and fishing, learning new skills to challenge himself constantly.
