Lissa Carter, MA, NCC, LCAS, LCMHC
Lissa feels honored to be involved in the life-changing work of CooperRiis. She believes that the pursuit of mental health is a lifelong journey for all of us, as we discern what matters most and learn skills to lead a meaningful life even in the face of pain and difficulty.
Lissa received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, and currently serves as President of the North Carolina Association for Spiritual, Ethical, Religious, and Value Issues in Counseling (NCASERVIC). She is a Nationally Certified Counselor, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist.
Lissa holds graduate certificates in Expressive Arts Therapy and Addiction Studies and utilizes art, poetry, and movement and EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, in her sessions with residents. She has worked in many settings, including family.
Before becoming a counselor, Lissa was a farmer, botanist, and permaculture designer, and often can be found in the wilderness geeking out over guidebooks.
