Katie Green

“I am thrilled to be a part of CooperRiis, an organization I have admired for many years. I believe that each person deserves to live a life that matches their dreams and aspirations, and doing so via building community is the gold standard of healing and community.”

Katie Green is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist. She obtained her Master of Social Work from Smith College School of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts in English from Berea College. Select areas of study have included thesis research on adult adoptees’ unique perspectives and how to critically address healthcare disparities across varied demographics such as race and economic privilege and challenge.

Katie believes the work of healing is a collaborative endeavor and looks forward to assisting CooperRiis residents in identifying their strengths and challenges. She approaches this work with warmth, compassion, dedication, and humor and looks forward to being a part of each person’s journey as they pursue mental wellness. Katie’s approach to care includes utilizing a combination of elements from ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), sensorimotor psychotherapy, and motivational interviewing.

While serving as an outpatient therapist in a community mental health agency has been her focus for the past three, and a half years, Katie also has experience working with survivors of human trafficking and with hospice and palliative care patients.

When she’s not working, Katie enjoys improvisation, dancing, fermenting everything, hiking, and procrastibaking.
