CooperRiis Board of Directors Donald R. Cooper Don is cofounder of CooperRiis with his wife Lisbeth and is an actuary and a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries. His business career has included many senior management positions within the insurance industry and Don was cofounder and president of Resource Deployment, Inc, (RDI, Inc), a venture capital and consulting company in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. He recently retired as Vice Chairman of BancOne Insurance Holdings, Inc., a division of BankOne Corporation in Chicago, IL. Don is also on the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. Lisbeth Riis Cooper Lisbeth cofounded CooperRiis with her husband Don and has worked in management and teaching positions in the fashion industry in New York City. She was an internship counselor and adjunct instructor at the Fashion Institute of Technology and at Parson’s School of Design in New York. Lisbeth served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Asheville Art Museum and was president of the Board of Caring for Children and vice-president of the Rainbow Mountain Foundation, both in Asheville, NC. Lisbeth is an active volunteer at CooperRiis in addition to being Vice Chairman.
Jack W. Bonner, III, MD Jack is Medical Director of the Greenville Hospital System Behavioral Health Services and Marshal I. Pickens Hospital, also in Greenville, South Carolina. He is a member of the faculty of South Carolina School of Medicine as well as a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Psychiatric Association and currently serves as president of the Highland Foundation and is on the Board of Trustees for the North Carolina Symphony. Warren W. Wall, Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Warren is a financial author and advisor with W.Wall & Company, Inc, RIA. He fell in love with the Western North Carolina area after attending Warren Wilson College and Western Carolina University. Warren, and his family, made Asheville, NC their permanent home in 1987 where he worked for two investment brokerage firms, JC Bradford & Co and AG Edwards & Son's until 1996 when he formed his own Broker-Dealer and Registered Investment Advisory firm, W. Wall & Company, Inc. Gregory S. Hilderbran, JD Greg is partner in the law firm of Adams Hendon Carson Crow & Saenger, P.A. in Asheville, North Carolina. His practice focuses primarily on business law, commercial transactions and estate planning. He previously served as an adjunct professor, teaching business law classes for Mars Hill College. Greg formerly served on non-profit boards of several civic and charitable organizations, and he is actively involved in youth ministry programs. Lynn Killian Neill Lynn is Executive Director of the Park Ridge Hospital Foundation in Fletcher, N.C., with extensive experience in fund-raising, administration and community development, both in volunteer service and professional positions. Her interest in music has motivated her to serve on the Board of the Hendersonville Symphony, as President, General Manager and Personnel Manager. Barbara (Babs) S. Strickland, PhD, JD Babs is Director and Corporate Secretary of Suddath Companies in Jacksonville, Florida. She has been an attorney, college French professor and business leader. She was also a partner in the law firm of Mahoney, Adams and Criser of Jacksonville, Florida, where she specialized in health care, franchising and corporate law. Babs was the first woman to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Jacksonville Port Authority and served as Chairperson from 1995-1997. She is also a board member of the Florida Coastal School of Law. Jay S. Young, Jr. Jay was born, raised, and still lives in Lexington, North Carolina. He has a BA and MALS from Wake Forest University. He entered the furniture business in 1970 by joining a family business (Dixie, Young Hinkle, Henry Link, Link Taylor) where he worked in sales. He left the business in 1990, forming in 1994 Jay Young Management where he serves as President. This company is involved in asset management. Previously, Jay has served as Board Chairman of the Lexington YMCA and the Lexington Memorial Hospital. He and his wife Kathy have three children, Smith, Jonathan and Katie. He currently serves as President of the Jay and Kathy Young Foundation and the J. Smith and Helen W. Young Foundation. Sarah Mettler Cecil Sarah received her education at the University of Arizona, Parsons School of Design (Paris) and Parsons School of Design (NY). After getting an additional Degree from the AR Sutoria Shoe Design School in Milan, Italy, she moved to Florence to work in design for The Ferragamo Family. While there, she developed her own “Sarah Mettler” line of ladies shoes which has been sold in department stores and boutiques all over Europe and the US. Her current focus is to raise, with her husband Jack, four active boys, and (to quote her recent comment), “bring to the CooperRiis Board a layman’s perspective as several of her family members suffer from mental illness.” Bob Sawers
