Integrative Health and Our Wellness Commitment
“Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a more successful existence.”
We have formulated an Integrative Health Team to create a healthy, supportive environment in which community members can reach their optimal health at CooperRiis and beyond.
We strive to provide ongoing nutritional counseling, health education, physical exercise coaching/programming, smoking cessation classes, massage and bodywork, wellness screening, and a community spirit that enables residents to choose a healthy lifestyle. The team assists residents in creating their personal wellness plans and teach them about nutrition, grocery shopping, and healthy cooking skills; skills they will take along as part of the "graduation" process. Additionally, the Integrative Health Team also holds the responsibility for the overall well-being of our residents and manage our systems of medication and supplement administration, weight management and other physical attributes, while constantly looking for ways to improve a residents health.
The team members are keenly aware of the dangers of diabetes and cardio-vascular illness that can sometime accompany mental illness and is alert to relevant risk factors and very focused on providing an environment that helps reduce smoking for all residents.
Wellness is positive and affirming.
