Kim Brown
Sous Chef

Food and cooking is literally in Kim’s blood.  While at Western Carolina University studying for her business degree, she supported herself cooking wonderful meals in restaurants and organized catering events.  Upon graduation she joined the Peace Corps and moved to Ukraine and became a project manager for a women’s business development group and taught business skills and grant writing.  Again, cooking and food could not escape her she became part of a group that would meet weekly to cook meals together, she learned from the Ukrainians and in return taught American cooking.  It proved to be a very creative process since food and spice resources were rather limited.

Four years later, she found herself in graduate school and soon started to cook for family and friends again, the business study did not really captivate her.  When her brother said, you totally missed your calling, Kim decided that she was too young to have missed anything and two weeks later enrolled at Johnson and Wales Culinary School in Charlotte, NC.  To graduate she needed to complete an internship and came to CooperRiis and the rest is history.

Kim holds a BS from Western Carolina University and a Culinary of Arts degree from Johnson & Wales Culinary Academy. She lives in Columbus with her cat and goes camping any chance she gets.
