< Previous Tracy Mixson Tracy works as a Recovery Coach and a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) and is a fierce advocate for the residents of the Asheville Graduate Program. As both a consumer and a professional, Tracy is all too familiar with how complicated the mental health system can be. She works closely with each resident making sure they obtain and are aware of all the benefits available to them through the government and local community resources. She also assists graduates with daily life skills, job coaching and helps them remain hopeful through role modeling her own recovery. Tracy was trained by The Georgia Certified Peer Specialist Program in 2006, which has received national and international recognition and has been promoted by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) as a model for other states to emulate. A CPS is a person recovering from mental illness who has been trained and certified to help their peers gain hope and move forward in their own recovery, continuing work on personal responsibility, empowerment, education, and self-determination. Tracy is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. |
