Scott Hart, MA, LPC
Graduate Program Director & Therapist

Scott directs and supports the staff and clients of our growing CooperRiis ‘graduate’ programs in Asheville, Tryon and Mill Spring.  Graduates are CooperRiis residents who are ready for more independence and challenge after an average 7-month stay at the main campus. Designed to grow to about 100 clients, the extended community members of the graduate programs are now more numerous than the 36 residents on the main campus.  While Scott guides this growth, he is also the primary therapist for many of the clients.

He brings a quarter of a century of mental health experience to us, as a therapist, educator, and hospital liaison.  He spent 23 years at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in Evanston, IL, and the last two at New Vistas in Madison County, N.C. on their Assertive Community Treatment team.

With his wife Cindy and two daughters, they moved to North Carolina to enjoy the warmer winters and much to their surprise… cooler summers.

A native of New York, Scott graduated from The University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, and earned an MA in Professional Counseling from Concordia University in River Forest, IL.

Please be sure to ask Scott about astronomy, his recorder playing, and sailing on "The Buttercup" - he loves to share about it all. He also enjoys doing linoleum cuts and likes clever jokes.  Do you know any to share with him?
