Jim Weitzel, BA
Recovery Coach

Jim is an exceptional artist whether he is helping a new resident feel at ease and adjust to life at CooperRiis or carefully sculpting a beautiful piece of furniture.  His patience, compassion and understanding are unparalleled with residents and their family members.  He feels your pain but has the uncanny ability to stay levelheaded and remain objective.  He is also the first to step in to lessen the struggles for residents on so-called “bad days”.

He is the welcoming guide for all applicants, assisting them and their families with an orientation to CooperRiis. He knows how to allay the anxieties that applicants can experience in their first hours and how to make them feel at home.

Creating works of art for the CooperRiis campus with residents is near and dear to Jim’s heart and his work is always of impressive scope and scale.  And his imagination is as grand as his heart.

Jim’s outdoor sculptures and beautiful furniture can currently be found in the Grovewood Gallery in Asheville and Wickwire in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Jim’s background includes several years of work at a Club House in Rutherfordton, NC, where he was a job coach. He has a BA in Fine Arts and an AA in Culinary Studies.
