< Previous Ellen Rogers, BA Ellen’s work is perhaps best framed by the question: What can we do to assist residents through their third, and often very challenging phase of recovery developing a sense of purpose and hope? Through her guidance, residents do their personal planning and actualization of educational, vocational, and community service oriented goals. She also works closely with residents to understand the CooperRiis guidelines for graduation - such as active participation in the life skills program, successfully self-administering medications, and a positive relationship in the CR community to ensure they are ready for “graduation” when the time comes. Ellen is also a key person in maintaining family contact. Her extensive knowledge in Employment and Benefits Services is very beneficial for helping our residents obtain third party/government benefits for which they qualify, having worked at Fountain House in New York City, the Sixth Avenue West Clubhouse in Hendersonville, N.C. and Polk County Social Services. Ellen graduated with a BA from the University of Rochester, NY and completed graduate courses in Social Work at Hunter College in New York City. She is a certified cycling and fitness instructor at the YMCA and teaches strength training exercises as part of our morning wellness program and a former member of Saluda City Board of Commissioners. She is arried to Martin Anderson, music director and midday host at WNCW Radio in Spindale, NC. They are the parents of a baby girl. |
