Joe recently joined the CooperRiis Clinical Team and is one of our three Psychotherapists and a Licensed Professional Counselor and has readily engaged in our clinical team and community life.  He brings valuable skills to our team with his experience in child and family issues including separation and divorce matters and grief counseling.

Before coming to CooperRiis he was in a private psychosocial counseling practice providing clinical assessments and mental health diagnosis and facilitated a 12 Step Program to support clients enhance their quality of life.

He has also worked for Loudon County Mental Health and the William Wendt Center in Washington, DC, where he counseled adults and children coping with depression, grief, and substance abuse issues and constructed grief counseling groups in the school systems and coordinated bereavement camps for at-risk children.

A graduate of the American School of Psychology, MA, Washington, D.C. and Syracuse University, BA, Syracuse, NY.  Joe and his wife reside in Tryon, NC with their two children.   Both of them are very family oriented and have taken turns being at home with their children while the other parent pursued a career or education.  Joe is also proficient in Spanish.
