Who can qualify to attend CooperRiis?

CooperRiis accommodates up to 36 residents who are at least 18 years of age, are treatment compliant and who demonstrate a desire to recover their mental health.  Residents are usually diagnosed with schizophrenia or schizo-affective disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, Asperger’s Syndrome, or personality disorders, including borderline personality disorder.

After an average stay of six to twelve months, residents may transfer to the CooperRiis Graduate Program, in Asheville or the Mill Spring/Tryon N.C. areas, which provides long-term supportive housing, employment and volunteer or educational opportunities.

Given that a resident may come from anywhere in the world, we also assist in the planning of smooth transitions for those who wish to return to their home communities.
