Financial Commitment.

CooperRiis is designed to reach up to 100 individuals and their families each year. Our annual budget, of just under $4 million, is met through the collection of fees from residents and their families, donations of money and time from individuals, and grants from private and public foundations. We receive no state or federal income.

What financial commitment do we seek from the resident’s parents, spouses or guardians?

A resident’s family must commit to pay the CooperRiis’ monthly program fee, currently at $9,000, for each of the first two months, payable in advance one month at a time. The monthly fee does not include the potential costs of physicians’ fees, private psychiatric sessions, medication and dental care. Most of these expenses are covered by insurance, Medicaid or Medicare. Other expenses such as dry cleaning, entertainment costs, personal transportation or long distance phone calls are also discretionary. Please note that no refunds are made for uncompleted portions of a month.

It is our long-term objective to serve anyone who can benefit from CooperRiis without regard to their financial capacity and currently we are committed to give $1.5 million in scholarships on an annual basis.

During the initial two-months, parents, spouses or guardians who are unable to sustain payment of the full monthly fee may seek a reduction by applying for a scholarship. We are most often able to reduce our fees to meet the family’s financial circumstances, especially for those residents who have shown a strong commitment to their recovery.

Scholarships may be allowed for up to 18 months; 6 months at CooperRiis and 6 months at each of the first two levels of the Graduate Programs.
